Peace Yoga Love teachers have  all been lucky enough to do some training with John Ogilvie of  Byron Yoga Centre and we are all qualified yoga teachers with appropriate insurance and first aid qualifications.  We have in common our commitment to student experience, alignment focused teaching and our desire for ongoing study in our field.  We all have our own favorite way of practicing and gifts to impart, with the common thread of our training - which adds a familiar thread through our quite different classes.

Vanessa Bernardo

Vanessa started practicing yoga to beat corporate stress and calm the mind, and quickly became hooked. Studying yoga became a hobby, undertaking an initial 12-month course inspired by Iyengar’s lineage and the philosophy that yoga can be adapted to suit everyone. Since then, studies have included multiple kids yoga training and of particular interest, yoga therapy and nutrition.

Vanessa is inspired by her family, the amazing students, teachers and yoga community that live with laughter, compassion and a vivacious appetite for life.

Vanessa’s classes fuse gentle yet dynamic hatha-inspired poses, pranayama and meditation. And who doesn’t love a bolster class or a luscious yoga Nidra every now and again?

Her intention is that you leave her classes feeling reconnected with your inner wisdom, with a smile on your lips and compassion in your heart. For the world around you, but especially for yourself.

Min Carroll I was inspired to start Peace Yoga Love after going through a difficult divorce with four small children where I really needed my yoga and couldn't afford to attend anywhere near the number of classes I needed.  I ended up training as a teacher, and my dream was  I wanted to start a studio where it was affordable for people who were vulnerable to access free and affordable classes, and  to offer outreach classes to local groups who could benefit from learning yoga skills.  I am so honoured by the support from the community for our classes, and by the teachers who work with me to make that dream possible. I currently work pro bono for Bear Cottage who are Sydney's only children's hospice - as well as working with high school children who require additional support.  I am grateful for the opportunities to share the skills that have supported me through the difficult times in my life with others.  For we are one  xx

Abbie Lambert Abbie has been practicing yoga for 12 years. She attended her first yoga class in high school as a sport option and was immediately hooked. After years of working in an office and day dreaming about being a yoga teacher, a lingering ache in her thoracic from her sedentary job is what eventually pushed her to make the lifestyle change and follow her passion for yoga. She left her job as an assistant in a large media company and completed her teacher training with John Ogilvie at Byron Yoga Centre in March 2013. She has completed her Level 1, Level 2, and Certificate IV in Purna Yoga. Purna Yoga is a holistic approach to Hatha Yoga, integrating not only the asanas but also pranayama, meditation and the yoga philosophy. She also recently did a level 2 refresher course with Mark O'Brien at Qi Yoga in Freshwater. Abbie’s teaching techniques have a strong focus on safety and alignment and she believes that yoga should be practiced joyfully, bringing this light-hearted approach to her classes. She also believes that yoga teaches us to learn to listen to our bodies and brings with that the desire to treat it with love and respect. Her intention is for her students to develop this positive, nurturing communication within and for them to leave her classes feeling better physically and emotionally than when they arrived.

Brita Golsby-Smith

After years of not nourishing myself I took the bull by the horns and started to live from my own heart, to live my own dreams and everything began to sing.

Because when I looked deep into myself I realised what made me happy was my yoga practice and sharing it with others.

Because everyone has the right to be nourished my their own heart… and everyone can be.

Because you are enough.
